The Homecoming Day Parade was a wonderful way to enjoy such a beautiful Indian summer afternoon. It was apparent that all the attendees had a good day as well. The only damper to the day was Sillystring, the plastic spray in a can. It made the children very wild and littered our beautiful streets. In fact, the Sillystring is still evident from the last street fair. I recall reading in the Garden City Life (Letters to the Editor) that the residents were upset that a merchant was responsible for the street debris. This should have been a great opportunity for the Garden City Chamber of Commerce to present to the Village Trustees to ban this Sillystring in our Village as it has been banned in other villages. It would be appropriate for the Seventh Street Stationery owner to agree not to sell this item and be more active in promoting a clean environment in Garden City and set an example as a chamber director.
The Chamber of Commerce should help set an example for our fine Village. I encourage all the members to ensure a clean and safe environment all year round.
