Gloria Grafer and Alfred Devendorf, co-chairs of the third annual Long Island Platform Tennis Mixed Championship Tournament, announces that this year's event will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8. Major sponsor for the tournament is the Daniel Gale (Real Estate) Agency. Benefiting two local charities, Rotacare and Family and Children's Association, the event will feature two concurrent tournaments. The "A" matches will be played at Plandome Country Club, Port Washington Yacht Club and the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club while the "B" matches will be played at the Cherry Valley Club and the Garden City Country Club.

The finals, open to the public, will be held at the Cherry Valley Club on Sunday, Nov. 8. Lunch will be provided for all players on Saturday and for semifinalists and finalists on Sunday.

More than 130 players participated in this event last year and checks for $2,500 were presented to both Rotacare and Family and Children's Association. Rotacare provides free medical care for the people in need. Family and Children's Association is Long Island's largest secular social service agency and its 50 programs provide a seamless array of services for infants, children, teens, families and seniors.

Any LIPTA member, Long Island resident or member of a Long Island Club is eligible to play. Entry fee for LIPTA members if $50 and $65 for non-LIPTA members. Registration, which ends Monday, Nov. 2, may be completed by contacting Úquot;AÚquot; Tournament Director Sharon Hummers at 248-5570 or Úquot;BÚquot; Tournament Director Eleanor Carsey at 747-0542. Sponsorship Directors Alfred E. Devendorf at 742-8340 and Ron Ronzoni 261-7774 invite any one interested in sponsoring this exciting and fun event, to give them a call.</p>
