This year the Recreation Department's Annual Halloween Parties will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the five village playgrounds (Edgemere, Grove, Hemlock, Nassau Haven and Tullamore) beginning at 1 p.m. Each park will hold a costume parade and prizes will be awarded for the funniest, spookiest, prettiest and most original costumes.
Immediately following the costume parade there will be games and contests at which the children can win tickets redeemable for candy prizes. Games will include apple dunking, donut eating, ring toss and bean bag toss.

With the kids settled in school, why don't you put some time aside for yourself and try one of our Aerobics Classes? Our instructors have a great workout waiting for you at the Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cluett Hall according to the following schedule:
Sunday - 6:45 p.m.
Monday - 9 a.m.
Tuesday - 9 a.m.
Wednesday - 6:45 p.m.
Thursday - 9 a.m.
Thursday - 7:15 p.m., STEP Class
Saturday - 7:45 a.m.
The cost of the classes is just $4 per class on a per day basis, or you can save time and money by purchasing a "20 Class Pass" for just $60. Passes are sold at Cluett Hall, and at the Recreation Office in Village Hall. To make getting in shape even simpler, baby-sitting is available for the weekday morning classes.
The Recreation Department is conducting a supervised trip to Walt Disney's World on Ice engagement of The Little Mermaid at the Nassau Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 21 for the 11 a.m. performance.
Tickets are priced at $22.50 for this show and are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Supervision by the Recreation Department staff and bus transportation to and from the show are also included. To participate in this trip, children under six years of age must be accompanied by an adult on the bus. The Recreation Department also has a limited number of discounted tickets to the Wednesday, Nov. 18 performance at 7 p.m. Regularly priced $22.50 tickets are discounted to $19.50 for this performance.
There is no transportation to the Wednesday evening performance.
Because these tickets are obtained from the Nassau Coliseum on a consignment basis, the Recreation Office will accept cash only for these tickets. No checks please! Last day of sale for these tickets will be Friday, Nov. 6.
The following Adult Recreation Programs will begin on Monday, Oct. 19 in the St. Paul's Field House. Please note: These programs will start at 8 p.m. and run until 10 p.m. and are operated for Garden City residents only.
Men's Over 30 Basketball - Monday and Tuesday evenings.
Men's Open Basketball - Monday and Wednesday evenings.
Men's Over 40 Basketball - Wednesday evenings.
Adult Co-Ed Volleyball - Thursday evenings for residents of post high school age.
Women's Open Basketball - Thursday evenings, for residents of post high school age.

Looking for something to do as a family this Halloween that is a little out of the ordinary? Then come and see Once Upon a Broomstick. The Garden City Youth Players have been working hard on making this a very special show for children of all ages. It has something to please everyone, enchantment, laughter and romance.
The show is under the direction of Maureen O'Gara, assisted by Leigh Somerville, and Stage Manger Sue Funke who is assisted by Billy Cavinaro Saturday. All are students at the Garden City High School. The performances will be Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. at the Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cluett Hall. The prices for tickets will be $4 for adults and $2 for children and seniors. Please come and celebrate Halloween with us.
