Amendment to Franklin Ave. Bond Resolution Carries Unanimously
Before the Consent Calendar was approved by the trustees at the Village Board meeting of Oct. 15, Trustee Kettner requested that item #2 be removed for discussion. This item was listed on the agenda as "Amendment to Bond Resolution -- Franklin Avenue Project." It was explained by Mayor Tauches that the amendment would budget $3,100,000 for the project, an increase of $900,000 from the original bond of $2,200,000 that had been approved.

How Will Eliminating Class Rank Impact Garden City High School?
At the close of the Oct. 13 Board of Education's discussion of the elimination of class rank at Garden City High School, it was clear that the crowd of parents who attended clearly want to see the practice end, and it was also clear that the School Board intends to support an administrative decision to end the practice. The Board argued heatedly as to whether or not it would be appropriate to take a straw poll vote to see if the Board would support the end of the practice, but it was finally decided in a 3-2 decision

Recreation Department News
This year the Recreation Department's Annual Halloween Parties will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the five village playgrounds (Edgemere, Grove, Hemlock, Nassau Haven and Tullamore) beginning at 1 p.m. Each park will hold a costume parade and prizes will be awarded for the funniest, spookiest, prettiest and most original costumes.
