Railroad Parking Licenses for residents for the year 1998-99 are now being issued at the Village Office at a $25 fee. A photocopy of your registration must accompany your application and check. As the current permits will expire on Sept. 30, new licenses should be obtained prior to that date.

A reminder that the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs, in cooperation with the Nassau County Medical Center, will again co-sponsor a free countywide flu immunization program for senior citizens.

The immunization program for our area will be held at the Garden City Senior Recreation Center at 6 Golf Club Lane on Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 10:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Registration for this program has already begun. Residents 60 years of age or older, who are interested in receiving the vaccine on Tuesday, Oct. 20 should call the Garden City Recreation Department at 742-5800, extension 275 as soon as possible to make an appointment.

It is with pleasure that we announce that Garden City has been named as the recipient of the Award for Excellence in the 1997 Traffic Community Safety Program.

This award, granted by the Automobile Club of New York, signifies the efforts of our Police Department in safeguarding the citizens of our community.

Constitution Week here in Garden City just ended yesterday, Wednesday, Sept. 23. The Colonel Aaron Ogden Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution asked me to proclaim the week of Sept. 17 through 23 as Constitution Week in Garden City, and I gladly did so.

Our nation's Constitution, framed Sept. 17, 1787, provided a fundamental document for freedom and independence, which has become a way of life in our great nation. All of us have cause to pause and reflect on our heritage.
