You will recall that two of the principal reasons that caused the defeat of the bond issue were the exorbitant amount of $50 million and the flawed demographic study which bordered on the ridiculous.

Nevertheless, the Advisory Committee and the current board, without the results of a demographic study are proceeding to a proposed bond vote in the middle of December, having spent funds on an architectural contract. Doesn't this amount to putting the cart before the horse? Is the Advisory Board completely objective?

The demographic study was placed in the hands of an organization selected by BOCES. BOCES is a part of the school system. How can it possibly be objective? We shall see.

Our previous board's flawed demographic study defied the findings of the Nassau County study. Will the current study do the same?

It is clear that based upon the currently available student population, the bulk of the work that may be required will be in the primary and elementary schools. Most of the work required in the middle and high school can wait for several years based upon the presently known demographics.

Under these circumstances, the bond should be limited primarily to the primary and elementary schools and non-priority work should await future budgets on an as-required basis.

After the defeat of the bond issue, Mr. Ryan stated that he was advised by many constituents that the defeated bond should have been limited to the primary and elementary schools. Parents of children who attend the middle and high schools were miffed by this statement. What can we expect from citizens who have no children in any of the schools unless the parents of the children in the middle and high schools understand reality.

P.S. I believe that it was stated at a board meeting that I received 14 votes in the last election --some as write-ins and others from absentee ballots. Thank you!
