  • NEWS: Chamber of Commerce Happenings

    The Garden City Chamber of Commerce has concluded its busy Winter and Spring schedule of events with activities such as the Tree Lighting Ceremony, breakfasts featuring the 60-second commercials, hosting the Mayoral Address by Mayor Frank Tauches, honoring residents who have taken on leadership roles voluntarily to aid the Village at their annual dinner and awards ceremony, and working with the Traffic Commission and the merchants on Seventh Street as well as the former Central Business Alliance to develop a new parking plan for the area that would allow customers to have access to spots near the businesses. Now, the Chamber is beginning its hectic Summer schedule with the Second Annual Summer Concert Series, which was known as Fridays on Franklin last summer and are now known as Wonderful Wednesdays.     Joining News 12 Long Island's Bob Wolff on the panel of the recent Adelphi University/NY Mets Babseball, Education & Society Symposium were Mel Southard, former vice-president and general counsel for the NY Yankees; Dave Lemanczyk, retired major league baseball pitcher; Arthur Kaminsky, co-founder of The Marquee Group; Steve Jacobsen, Newsday sports columnist; David Cohen, general counsel for the NY Mets; and Geoff Belinfante, executive producer of Major League Baseball Productions.   • SPORTS: Garden City Centennial Soccer Club News

    The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club was begun with the idea that it was to provide youngsters with the most positive experience possible through playing the sport. The whole intramural program is based on four ideas: everyone plays, balanced teams, positive coaching, and open registration. Of course, this also includes input from parents. Getting as many parents as possible involved in the program helps spread the work around. The Club believes parents will find that this helps spread the fun around too. FULL STORY
