McDermott surpassed the 100-point mark in career scoring in the school's game against Skidmore, which gave him 102 points overall to rank 12th All-Time. He is credited with the game-winning, over-time goal in last year's NCAA Tournament and was a second-team All-American. Chaminade graduate Tom O'Brien has recently completed his junior year at Franklin & Marshall College, playing lacrosse for their team, the Diplomats. O'Brien was a leader on the attack this season. He was second on the team with 11 assists and third in points (20). Garden City's Mike Ferucci was senior captain and an attackman for Harvard University's lacrosse team this year. He was awarded the Most Outstanding Player Award by the University for his "ability, courage, leadership, character, spirit, sportsmanship, determination, dedication, and achievement of excellence," according to Head Coach Scott Anderson. Ferruci was also voted "the person who has done the most for Harvard lacrosse." Garden City resident Jeff Psaki completed his sophomore year at Harvard University with the honor of being elected as one of two captains of the 1999 Harvard men's lacrosse team. He was elected by a vote of his teammates. The announcement was made by Head Coach Scott Anderson at the post-season dinner. After graduating from Garden City High School, Dan Kettner chose to attend Hamilton College. He has been a member of their lacrosse team, the Continentals. He finished this season successfully helping the team maintain a solid ranking in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Completing his freshman year at Lehigh College, Brandon Wenck of Garden City has successfully contributed to their Patriot League in men's lacrosse. Sporting his number 23 on his Lehigh Uniform, he has proven to be a talented midfielder. He will return next season to help bring the team to victory. Paul LeSueur of Garden City has completed his junior year at Johns Hopkins University. As a defensive midfielder, he is credited with using his speed to jump-start the Blue-Jay transition game. He scored three goals and added one assist this season while coming up with 19 groundballs. This Garden City grown lacrosse player, Colin Smith, recently completed his second season with the Guilford College lacrosse team. Smith, a sophomore attackman, started all 13 games for the Quakers. He was the team's second leading scorer with 20 points (17 goals, 3 assists). His career total is now 44 points (36 goals, 8 assists). He had 23 ground balls and one extra-man goal. His best performance came against Shenandoah when he scored a career-high five goals --a team high for individual scoring in a game this season.
