Believe it or not, the longest running continuous high school rivalry in the United States features Garden City vs. Manhasset in a lacrosse matchup which has been played every spring since 1935 -- The Woodstick Classic. This Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m. it will be played at Garden City High School.

The contest pits two of the best high school teams on Long Island and arguably two of the best in the country in an annual epic. Garden City was Class B State Champion in 1997, 1994 and 1986. Manhasset was State Champ in 1995.

Last year's game at Manhasset drew over 1,000 fans. This year should be even bigger. Extra bleachers around the high school lacrosse field are planned to accommodate the crowd.

The event is so big it's on the USA Lacrosse website calendar, and will certainly be one of the most exciting Long Island sporting events of the spring season -- a possible prelude to the Nassau and Long Island championship.

So be there to cheer Garden City on to victory!
