One of the sure signs of the arrival of Spring is the annual scramble to find goodies at the Recreation Department's Annual Easter Egg Hunt, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, beginning at 10 a.m..

Once again this year, the Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the St. Paul's Athletic Fields. This year there will be three hunts for the following age groups: pre-school through kindergarten; first and second graders; and third through fifth graders.

Children will be searching for all kinds of candy treats, as well as "Special Eggs" --which are redeemable for special prizes. There will also be a giant Easter basket awarded to the lucky child who finds the "Special Egg" marked #1.

Children should assemble behind the St. Paul's Field House for the start of the hunt. The Recreation Department asks all parents to observe the age groupings, which are designed to give all the children a fair opportunity to search for both candy and the prize eggs.

In the event of rain, the hunts will be held on Monday, April 13 at 10 a.m. In the event of uncertain weather, residents may call the Recreation Program Line at 742-5888, any time after 8:30 a.m. for the latest information.

The Recreation Department has a limited number of tickets to the Campbell's Soups Champions on Ice Tour at the Nassau Coliseum on Thursday, May 14. Scheduled to appear are: Oksana Baiul, Michelle Kwan, Tara Lipinski, Nicole Bobek and many more. Tickets to this show are priced at $55 and are on sale now in the Recreation Office in the Village Hall. Tickets must be paid for in cash only --no checks please! Last day of sale for these tickets will be Friday, May 1.

For further information or to reserve tickets, please call the Recreation Office at 742-5800.

With the Spring Sports Season fast approaching, the Recreation Department would like to remind all residents that preference is given to the Garden City Athletic Association, Garden City Centennials, and Garden City Rams for their league programs. When the fields are not in use by the youth organizations, the Recreation Department or a group holding a valid permit, these ball fields are then available for use by the residents.

Playability of the fields will be determined by the Recreation Department employee at the field.

Tomorrow, Friday, March 27 is the very last day to turn in rosters to the Recreation Office in Village Hall for teams meeting the following requirements:

*From businesses located within the Incorporated Village of Garden City.

*Teams composed of current residents of the Incorporated Village of Garden City.

*Teams composed of employees of the Incorporated Village of Garden City.

The fee for this league will be $425, which covers the cost of balls umpires, and field maintenance.

Applications for this league will not be accepted without a complete Roster Package, which includes: Roster Form (name, address, and phone number); check for full league fee; and proper identification for each player. Roster Applications Packages are available in the Recreation Office in Village Hall.
