Bring a smile to your child's face as they complete their own arts and crafts project each week during this 8 week program, conducted by Mrs. Sandra Young. This program will be held in Cluett Hall and there will be three 45-minute classes each week on Mondays at 10:45 a.m., Wednesdays at 1:15 p.m. and Thursdays at 10:45 a.m. Registration for the classes that begin the week of March 16 will take place on Tuesday, March 10 at Cluett Hall beginning at 10:45 a.m. The following guidelines have been established for this program: -There will be a maximum of 15 children per session. -Children must be between the ages of 3 and 1/2 and 5 years old. -Children must not be in Kindergarten. -Children must be toilet trained. -Children must be able to stay without parents. On Saturday, March 14, the Recreation Department will present a fun-filled evening featuring the best sounds of the "Great Girl Group" as performed by Long Island's top girl groups, The Chiclettes. This concert will be held at the Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cluett Hall beginning at 8 p.m. Admission will be $10 per person, which will include soda and snacks. The Chiclettes act features the best sounds of The Supremes, The Shangri-La's, The Crystals, The Ronettes and many more. Their high energy brings to life memories of those great acts. Advance reservations and payment are required for this concert. To reserve for this show, please call the Recreation Department at 742-5800 during business hours, by Thursday, March 12. Treat your family to an afternoon of the best in puppetry as the Robert Rodgers Puppet Company presents Aesop's Fables at Cluett Hall on Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. Admission to this show is free for all Village Residents, and advance reservations are not required. Due to a School Activity, the Recreation Department's Friday After School Program, and the Saturday Morning Recreation Program at Stratford School will not be held on Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7. The Garden City Athletic Association is pleased to announce some important upcoming dates: -Saturday, March 14 -- Major League Tryouts at the St. Paul's Field House from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for 11-year-olds and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for 12-year-olds -Saturday, March 21 --Mandatory Baseball and Softball Coaches Clinic on the dynamics of baseball and softball to be conducted by Bob Fontaine from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the St. Paul's Field House. Also, an Umpires Clinic will be conducted by Bob Fontaine from 11 a.m. to noon at the St. Paul's Field House. -Saturday, March 28 --Baseball and Softball Players Clinic at the St. Paul's Field House will be conducted by Lou Santos and the Diamond Pro's staff from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for 5 to 9-year-old players and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for 10-year-olds and older. -Saturday, April 6 --Little League Parade at 9 a.m. For an evening of tennis fun, come down on Saturday, March 14 or March 28 from 7:30 until 10 p.m. for the Recreation Department's Mixed Doubles Tennis Party. The cost of this evening of tennis is $30 per couple which includes court time, balls, refreshments, and round robin play. There is a limit of 10 couples for each tennis party. The Garden City Recreation Department will be conducting a supervised trip to the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus at the Nassau Coliseum on Saturday, March 21, for the 11 a.m. performance. These regularly priced $19.50 tickets are discounted to $17, which includes bus transportation to and from the show. The Recreation Department bus will leave the Village Hall parking lot at 10:15 a.m. and return there immediately following the show. Supervision will be provided by members of the Recreation Department staff. Tickets are also on sale for the Thursday, March 19, 7:30 p.m. performance. These regularly priced $19 tickets are discounted to $16.50 for this show. There is no bus transportation for the Thursday evening performance. The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club has announced that the Spring 1998 Intramural Soccer Season will open on Saturday and Sunday, April 4 and 5, with Soccer Fest scheduled for the weekend of June 6 and 7. Programs are available for all girls in grades Pre-K (those children who will be entering kindergarten in September 1988) through grade 8, and for boys in grades Pre-K through grade 6. No try-outs are held, any child that comes out to play will be placed on a team and guaranteed playing time of at least one half of each game. Registration forms are now being accepted through the mail. Registration forms can be picked up at the Recreation Office in the Village Hall, at Cluett Hall and at the Garden City Soccer Shop on Seventh Street. The final registration date for the spring season is Saturday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. The Centennials are also pleased to announce the following clinics for both coaches and players to take place in the St. Paul's Field House: Saturday, March 14 -- Players Clinic for grades 1 and 2; 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Coaching Clinic for grades 3,4, and 5 coaches.
