Garden City Recreation

Last Holiday Gym Day

The last Holiday Gymnasium Program Day in the St. Paul's Field House will be on Friday, Jan. 2, 1998. There is a full range of programs for children from kindergarten to high school seniors. For further information please call the Recreation Office at 742-5800.

Recreation Program Note

All Recreation Department programs normally held in the School District Facilities will resume on Monday, Jan. 5, 1998. The swimming lessons will resume on Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998. For further information call the Recreation Office.

Community Park News

In observance of the New Year's Holiday's, Community Park will operate according to the following schedule:

Wednesday, Dec. 31: 7a.m. to 5p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 1: 7a.m. to 11p.m.

The Instructional Tennis Programs will resume on Friday, Jan. 2, 1998.

Gieseke Wins Candy Cane Contest

The winner of the Recreation Department Candy Cane Contest is Barbara Gieseke of Pine Street, with a correct guess of 270 Candy Canes. Congratulations to Barbara and many thanks to all of the children who participated in this contest.

Evening of Murder Mystery

Come sharpen your sleuthing skills and enjoy an evening of mystery, murder, and intrigue at the Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cluett Hall on Saturday, Jan. 17. Beginning at 7p.m., you'll enjoy a full sit down dinner and be part of an intricately staged murder. Then you'll be asked to help solve an exciting murder case, revolving around the cast of a western movie who are filming on location in Buzzard's Gulch. You'll use clues uncovered during the performance and have the opportunity to question suspects. It's an evening sure to be filled with suspense, mystery, and a few surprises.

The entire evening, including dinner and the Murder, is priced at just $25 per person.

Advance reservations and payment are required for this show. To reserve, please call the Recreation Office during business hourse, by Thursday, Jan. 15.

  • High school seniors or older may make appointments now for summer job interviews to be held on Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. No interviews will be held without an appointment.
