Dr. Steven Chu, a longtime resident of Garden City was named a Nobel Prize Winner for outstanding research in chemistry recently.
Dr. Chu left Garden City some time ago and is now on the staff at Stanford University in California. His colleagues for the Nobel Prize include William D. Phillips of The National Institute of Standards at Gaithersburg, Maryland and Dr. Claude Cohen-Tannoudji of the College de France at Paris.
I speak for the members of the University Club of Long Island in acknowledging this outstanding scientific accomplishment by Dr. Chu and his colleagues. We are requesting the members of the Garden City community to join us at the University Club in the congratulations that are so well deserved.
