While across the nation some groups protested the celebration of a Holiday they believe is evil, Neo-Pagans gathered to donate blood to the Red Cross, and Vampire Balls were held at the trendiest clubs, the children of Garden City enjoyed the innocent fun which makes Oct. 31 such a popular day with so many kids of all ages.
While some brave Trick-or-Treaters in Garden City went door-to-door, the majority of the Village's children enjoyed Trick-or-Treating at established safe-zones such as malls like Roosevelt Field, where countless children could be seen gathering loot from store to store. Many Garden City's children attended parties held at friends' homes over the weekend to keep them safe and sound inside. Many of the local schools had festive parties in their classrooms where children were able to show off their costumes, enjoy some Halloween treats, and make Halloween projects. Children came to school dressed as their favorite superhero, their favorite movie characters, and in the professional garb of their role models like firefighters and police officers.
This year Garden City enjoyed a spooky, but safe and happy Halloween.
