Kathleen Springer of Stewart Manor (previously Kathleen Alexander), who grew up in neighboring Garden City, a beloved teacher at Hillside Grade School in New Hyde Park for 39 years, died on Aug. 8 after a six-year battle against ovarian cancer. Beloved daughter of the late George and Gloria (Logan) Springer. Cherished sister of William (Pamela), Kenneth, Marianne (Joseph) Judge, Carole, Jeanine, Patrick (Sunny) and the late George Jr. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. Also survived by dozens of cousins, friends and acquaintances. Funeral mass was held at St. Anne’s Church in Garden City. Rita C. Parente (nee Peterson) died on Aug. 12. Beloved wife of the late Arnold. Loving mother of Ralph (Marilyn) and Regina Gorman (Thomas). Cherished grandmother of Ralph, Paula, Thomas, Corinne and late Michael. Devoted great-grandmother of seven. Rose Colianno, 92, of Floral Park, died on Aug. 10. Beloved wife of the late Michael. Loving mom of Theresa Pinkava (William), Angela Moltzon (Rich Peterson), Rosemary Finamore (Michael) and Michele Capaccio (Andrew). Cherished grandma of five and proud great-grandma of five. Doolittle, Mary (nee: Farrell), 89, of Floral Park died on Aug. 7. She was pre-deceased by husband, Cletus, sons Shawn and George, and grandson Rory. Loving mother of Peggy, Kevin and James. Kight, Jeanne M., 65, died on Aug. 2 in Easton, MD. Jeanne grew up in Bellerose, and attended St. Gregory the Great Grammar School and Dominican Commercial High School. She is preceded by her parents, James and Lillian McElroy, sister Maria Mitchell, and husband Thomas Kight. Jeanne leaves behind children, Raymond Pashoukos,

Leporati, Bernice died on Aug. 2. Beloved wife of the late Arnold of 63 years and the loving mother of Arnold Jr., Ernest (Lynn), James (Tara), Bernice (John) Sesody, Thomas (Denise). Bernice was a grandmother of 15 and a great-grandmother of 16. She is also survived by her nephew Brian Metzger. Tuohy, Eleanore K., died on Aug. 1. Eleanor was the wife of the late Jeremiah and dear sister of John Kelly and the late Thomas and Robert Kelly. She was the cherished aunt of Kevin, Robert, Kathy and Karen. She is also survived by many grand-nieces and nephews. Funeral mass was held at Our Lady of Victory Church, with interment at Holy Rood Cemetery.
Joanne C. Kempton, (nee Glaser), 67, of Williston Park has died. Joanne was a dedicated teacher who influenced a generation of students at St. Aidan’s in Williston Park and Our Lady of Victory in Floral Park for more than 30 years. She was the founder and past president of Pieceful Patchers of the Park, an avid quilter and a lady fisherman. Devoted wife of Charles. Beloved mother of Jennifer and Christopher Taylor of Marlboro, MA, Kathryn and John Amaral of Melrose, MA, and Peter and Maura Kempton of Floral Park. The best grandma, (JoJo) to Emily, Ryan, Katie, Owen and Dylan. Visitation was held at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home in Williston Park. Mass was held at St. Aidan’s Church, with a burial at Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Farmingdale.
Brother John (Jack) Moylan died on July 27. Son of the late John and Mary (Hanney), he is survived by his sister Regina and nephews Dennis Dowd and John Duffe. He was raised in Floral Park and attended St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset. After becoming a Franciscan Brother in 1958 he taught in various schools and then in 1979 began his ministry in the Diocese of Rockville Centre to the incarcerated, their families and formerly incarcerated persons. Reposing was held at the Montfort Retreat Center in Bay Shore with a mass and burial at Holy Rood in Westbury.
Robert Balconis, 62, of Floral Park, died on July 27. He was a fun-loving extrovert. Bob was well-read, interesting and very funny. He is survived by his mother, Theresa, his sister Christine, his uncle Rev. Joseph Kozlowski, Uncle Richard Balconis (Anastasia) and Uncle Eugene Grabowski. He was very close to his cousins and loved their company. Services were held at New Hyde Park Funeral Home. A Christian mass and burial was held at St. Hedwig’s in Floral Park, with interment at St. Johns Cemetery in Middle Village.
