Residents are invited to meet this year's slate of Citizens' Party candidates for mayor and trustee Thursday, March 5, at 8 p.m. during a joint meeting of Floral Park's four civic associations at the Recreation/Pool Building.
Kevin Greene, who has held the position of Floral Park deputy mayor since 2005, is now running for mayor. The 45-year Floral Park resident first began serving as a trustee in 1995. He has served as commissioner of the village's building, fire, public works and recreation departments and the Floral Park Public Library; liaison to Floral Park police, the Conservation Society, the Spirit Fund Committee, director of emergency management, liaison to the Council of Cultural Affairs and Four Village Studio, and as a member of the North End Civic Association.
An ex-chief of the Floral Park Fire Department, Greene and his wife, Jan, have five children: Heather, Brian, Stephen, Julia and Jaime.
Mary-Grace Tomecki, a current Floral Park trustee, was elected in 2007. The Floral Park Library commissioner is also Floral Park's noise abatement officer and liaison to the Town-Village Aircraft Safety and Noise Abatement Committee.
A member of the North End Civic Association, Trustee Tomecki is a lifelong Floral Park resident. She serves as liaison to the Hillcrest Civic Association, NY-NJ Port Authority, the Citizens with Disabilities Committee and the Covert Avenue Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Friends of Floral Park Library and a committeeperson to the New Hyde Park-No. Floral Park Republican Committee.
Dominick Longobardi, first time candidate, is running for trustee. A member of the board of directors of the Water Authority of Western Nassau County, Longobardi is former president of the Floral Park Library Board, a former member of the Floral Park Grievance Board, a former member of the Floral Park New Resident Committee and is past president of the West End Civic Association. He currently serves as a member of the Floral Park LIRR Third Track Committee and is a commander with the Sons of the American Legion.
Longobardi, a lifelong Floral Park resident, is past chairman of the Citizens' Party, a former member of the Floral Park-Bellerose Leadership Foundation and a member of the Floral Park-Bellerose Republican Committee. He is married to Denise, with two children, Nicholas and Krista.
