Suspended Town of North Hempstead building inspector Thomas McDonough of Port Washington was acquitted of all bribery charges on June 19 in a State Supreme Courtroom presided over by Justice Alan Honorof.

McDonough's indictment in October of 2007 included allegations of bribery and grand larceny by extortion. It was alleged that he had refused to inspect a drywell in a home unless the homeowner purchased political fundraiser tickets he was selling, totaling $900.

The jury found him not guilty of all charges.

Spokesman for the Town of North Hempstead Collin Nash stated that McDonough would be able to return to work and receive full back pay.
