The Floral Park Conservation Society is hosting a 'give back' Saturday, April 19, at Centennial Gardens as part of the Earth Day celebration. Volunteers can come down anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to assist the Floral Park Conservation Society in doing myriad projects. These projects range from small to large depending on the age of the volunteer and includes raking leaves, hanging birdhouses, developing an extension of the Garden of Remembrance, planting ornamental grasses, grading areas for planting grass and many more.
Whether you can spend an hour or four, it doesn't matter. Many residents ask how they can help and this is one great way to do so. The Centennial Gardens Builders are running at a frenzied pace and the most visible changes in the 'hardscape' will be evident in these next two months. But much preliminary work needs to be done there are not enough hands to help so please come down.
Volunteers should wear old clothes and bring gloves along with a leaf or iron rake or shovel to join in the festivities. Several groups, such as SFT and some Brownie troops have already signed up so come on down.
For information, contact Society President Steve Corbett at 352-5383. Thank you for your continued support of the Floral Park Conservation Society, which is putting the "park" back into Floral Park through its community service partnership at Centennial Gardens & Bird Sanctuary located at the intersection of Floral Parkway and Raff Avenue.
