Heavy downpours and lightning and thunderstorms wreaked havoc on most of Long Island July 18. Flooded roadways, stranded motorists and out-of-service traffic lights didn't help the morning commute.
Many Floral Park residents pushed the board Tuesday night to approve a 15-year Verizon franchise agreement in the village and end the Cablevision "monopoly." A Pansey Avenue resident thought it was about time the village offered residents a choice. "I don't like the dictatorial marketplace," she said.
