Assembly Members Rally For Stricter Sex Offender Law
On a chilly, rainy May 18, local assembly members rallied outside the Capri Motel in West Hempstead where they say two Level 3 sex offenders convicted of first-degree sexual abuse have been living. Assemblyman Tom Alfano, alongside numerous concerned parents, called rooms 213 and 119 of the motel a "clear danger to children, families and seniors." The motel is just blocks from both George Washington and John Street elementary schools.

Floral Park Church Celebrates Two Milestones
Ninety-five years ago, Floral Park was a small village with a population of less than 1,000. Among those residents were several Lutheran families who decided to organize a Lutheran Mission in Floral Park. With the help of a New York City pastor, The Reverend Peterson and conference missionary, Pastor Halter, two ladies, Mrs. Homeyer and Mrs. Metzendorf, canvassed the village and surrounding towns for Lutheran prospects. When a sufficient number was obtained, a meeting was held on Sunday, March 10, 1912. Pastor Halter conducted the services for the group of 16 attending that day and Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Floral Park became a reality.
