Petitions Being Accepted Through April 16
The Floral Park-Bellerose Board of Education accepted the resignation of longtime trustee Archie T. Cheng at a special meeting conducted on March 28. Cheng has served with distinction on the Floral Park-Bellerose School District Board since 1989. Cheng also represented district residents on the Sewanhaka Central High School District Board of Education since 1991and served as president of both the Floral Park-Bellerose and Sewanhaka boards.

Call on Albany to Allow Nassau to Charge Cigarette Tax
In an effort to discourage smoking, Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi joined elected officials and health advocates to call on Albany to authorize Nassau and several other counties to impose a tax on cigarettes. The push, similar to the recent successful cigarette tax in New York City, is a part of Suozzi's "Healthy Nassau" campaign.
