On Jan. 22, Nassau County Legislator Richard J. Nicolello joined fellow Republican legislators in voting to approve real property tax relief for well-deserving Nassau County residents. "These laws will provide real property tax relief for all qualified Nassau County property owners," Legislator Nicolello said.

The first of the two laws approved benefits the surviving spouses of deceased volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers. This law allows the surviving spouse of a volunteer firefighter or volunteer ambulance worker to continue to receive a partial real property tax exemption despite the untimely death of the volunteer.

The next law provides relief to Nassau County residents with disabilities. Based on their level of income, persons with disabilities who own property in Nassau County can save up to 50 percent on their real property taxes.

Legislator Nicolello will continue his fight on behalf of Nassau County residents to provide relief from escalating real property taxes. "I hope all qualified residents will apply for this relief. If any resident has any questions, please call me at 571-6209," Legislator Nicolello added.
