On Friday, Jan. 19, a taxi cab traveling through Floral Park with two teenage girls as passengers hit a telephone pole on Tulip Avenue, between Lexington and Nassau Streets, splitting the pole into three sections. One section actually came to rest on the underside of the car after it rolled over onto the cab's roof. The Floral Park Fire Department responded along with Floral Park police. No serious injuries were reported and the young girls were transported to the hospital after the arrival of their guardians. LIPA and Verizon were alerted for the repair; some phones in the area were out of service until workers could repair the damage.
