Joan Moreno, who lived in Floral Park for more than 30 years, passed away on Jan. 10, 2007 after a long battle with cancer. She was 58 years old. For more than 24 years she worked for the Floral Park Bellerose School District. At first she worked in the John Lewis Childs cafeteria and eventually moved to drive a school bus. At one point or another she had driven most of the children in Floral Park and Bellerose to kindergarten.
Joan had a passion for gardening and couldn't wait to get outside to plant at the first sight of spring. Her love for antiques and anything Victorian could be seen throughout her home where she lived with her husband Roger for 18 years.
In June, Joan became a grandmother. Her daughter, Jessica DiMeo, gave birth to Joan's first grandchild, John. He was truly the love of her life and she spent every spare moment with him.
Joan is survived by her mother Ann; husband Roger; daughter Jessica; son-in-law John; grandson John; sister Lori and nieces Angela and Jenna.
The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Floral Park.
