Irving C. ("Big Irv") Burton, of Floral Park, died on Sept. 12, 2006. He signed a professional baseball contract with the New York Giants, Jacksonville Farm Club in 1951 and competed professionally for five years. He was inducted into the Hofstra University Inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame in February 2006. Husband of Bernadine. Father of Barbara and Thomas. Brother of Kenneth and Shirley. Father-in-law of Carolyn and John. Also survived by five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Floral Park. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.
