Sewanhaka District Making Community Advocacy Top Priority
"It was important to have the first annual community awareness event here in the district because with more than 8,500 students, we need to be aware of the issues our students face," Dr. John R. Williams, superintendent, Sewanhaka Central High School District, said. "We hope to continue this relationship with the Floral Park Substance Prevention Council to raise awareness and build unity among the community we serve."

ShOA Officials: Correction Officers Are In Danger
Safety conditions at the Nassau County Correctional Facility, according to the Sheriff Officers Association (ShOA), the union that represents the correction officers at the East Meadow-based maximum-security facility, are being comprised. According to ShOA officials, consolidation methods, at the hand of Sheriff Edward Reilly, are placing inmates and law enforcement officers, as well as visitors and civilian workers, at risk.
