I would like to express sincere thanks to the Elmont community for the trust and support you have shown by approving our school district's 2006-07 budget. Under the guidance of the Elmont Board of Education, we were able to achieve a budget that emphasizes a solid instructional program, enhanced by character and talent building opportunities, and yet, is sensitive to the economic challenges our residents face. Our community and school district have worked diligently over the years to provide a strong elementary school experience, and I am confident that together we will continue to offer well-defined programs and services for our children.
Elmont residents can be proud that with their assistance, our district has become a 'successful school' model. Our schools are recognized beyond our local borders for our academic achievement, as well as for our abilities to partner with universities and other educational and cultural institutions, to build strong relationships with our state legislative leaders, and to promote quality public education.
I invite you to celebrate our children by visiting our schools-your school buildings-to attend concerts and public events. The children put on a wonderful show; you won't be disappointed.
Finally, I thank those of you who are working with us at home and in school day after day. I encourage many more of you to get involved, take an active role in your children's education, and join us as we continue toward our goal of reaching and teaching for excellence.
