Once again it seems that the MTA/LIRR just doesn't get it. We have learned that the LIRR's Commuter Council has scheduled its 2006 President's Forum for Wednesday, Feb. 22. They advertise this meeting as the place to "Come meet, hear and bring your questions, suggestions and issues to LIRR President James Dermody." But their choice of date seems a bit odd.

You would think that they might have taken a look at their annual ridership numbers for this week and noticed that they are scheduling this public forum during the schools' winter break week when many Floral Parkers are off skiing or otherwise out of town and that they would have realized that many would be unable to attend.

If the LIRR wishes to be true to their assertion that they really want the participation of, and feedback from those they serve, they should have picked another week.

I started this letter by noting that the MTA/LIRR just doesn't get it, but then again, maybe they do. And if they do, shame on them again for giving their customers the short shrift.
