Stephen Quinn, 48, of Bellerose Village, who collapsed while running in the Village of Garden City's annual Turkey Trot Race Thanksgiving morning, died of heart failure shortly after he was transported to Winthrop-University Hospital.

The Garden City Fire Department, while on standby for the race, received an alarm, verbally and via radio, for an aided case from the Garden City Police Department and the Garden City Recreation Department. The fire department assisted police with CPR at the scene.

Mr. Quinn is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his daughter, Kaitlyn; his siblings, John, Michael and Adamarie; and 18 nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was held Monday, Nov. 28 at Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church; interment followed at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery.

Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home in New Hyde Park cared for the family, who released the following statement: "Stephen touched our lives and was a friend to all as well as the greatest basketball coach."
