A Floral Park teen died tragically while playing with friends at a home in Elmont on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 3:03 p.m.

According to detectives, Julio Sanchez was playing with other 13-year-old friends at a home on Hendrickson Avenue when his head became entangled in a rope the youths had suspended from a tree.

Police said one or more of the boys ran for help when their attempts to free the victim were proving unsuccessful and Sanchez was subsequently transported to Franklin Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4 p.m.

The investigation by the Nassau County Medical Examiner is ongoing, according to police.
