Our community received wholehearted support from local Republican office holders and candidates in the fight against the MTA/LIRR proposal to add another railway track through our area. Where were the other government leaders when we asked for their help over the past summer when six environmental impact scoping hearings took place and during the initial comment period that ended in August? As local citizens, we know if this project is adopted, five to seven years of railroad construction work will have a negative impact on our businesses and village.

Please vote for those who have been with us from the start. Let's defeat this unwanted and unnecessary project. We need people in public office who will help us continue our fight. Their names are on Row A - Peterson, Calvin, O'Connell, Dillon, Murray, Bonilla, Nicolello and Muscarella. They have been there for us so let's be there for them on Election Day.

You will also have the chance to vote on Proposition Two, the Mass Transit Bond Act. If this passes it will burden us with $2.9 billion more debt, more taxes and more money allocated to the MTA. This could result in more freight transport via LIRR through Floral Park. We join the fiscally responsible groups, such as the American Automobile Association (AAA), and ask you to vote no on Proposition Two.

If you need a ride to vote, call 775-6849.
