Hyman Scheinin died on Sept 1, 2005 at age 96. He lived in East Hills from 1955 to 1999, and considered those to be wonderful years. On Long Island, he raised a family, worked hard, and participated in many community activities. When he turned 90, Hy moved to the Philadelphia area, where he lived with his son and daughter-in-law. Hy was a track star, a craftsman, a teacher, a home builder, and a loyal family man. In his later years, he became an amazing storyteller, his memories reaching back vividly to the early 1900s. He was an unusually interesting person, and lived a long, rich life. Husband of the late Elaine. Father of Neil (Sandra) and Richard (Sara). Grandfather of Benjamin, Max, and Jesse. Services and burial were Sept 4 on Long Island. Contributions in Hy's memory may be made to Abington Memorial Hospital Foundation, 1200 Old York Rd, Abington PA 19001.
