Calling the email campaign a smashing success, Assemblyman Tom Alfano announced that his office has received hundreds of emails urging the MTA to stop the planned expansion of an additional track on the Long Island Rail Road Main Line.

"The response is overwhelming by the Floral Park, Bellerose Village and Bellerose Terrace communities," he said, adding, "We have to let our voices be heard in order to let the MTA know that our communities stand firm in saying 'no' to the third track expansion."

Assemblyman Alfano's email campaign will result in a mass email being sent to the MTA Planning Review Board. The objective is to let the board know in no uncertain terms the thoughts and feelings of residents impacted by the expansion.

The campaign is continuing and Assemblyman Alfano is urging residents to state their opinion on the proposed third track expansion by logging on to their computers and sending an email to alfanot@assembly.state.ny.us.
