The Floral Park Screaming Eagles Roller Hockey League wrapped up its eighth winter of play April 30 with our annual awards ceremony honoring the outstanding achievements by our players and teams this past season.

We would like to thank the staff of the Floral Park Recreation Center for all their help during the season and for their work in assisting us with the awards ceremony at the Pool Building. Special thanks to John Power of Con-Kel Landscaping for arranging to bring Sparky the Dragon, Monica, one of the New York Islanders' Pepsi Girls, and an Islanders staffer, Patrick Fitzpatrick, who distributed bobbleheads to our players and their parents. Thanks also to everyone who donated to the construction fund for our new shed, which will be built next to the rink at the Recreation Center. Special thanks to Jan Greene of J.J.'s Dance Studio for her donation, and to John Power of Con-Kel Landscaping for his assistance in getting the new structure completed.

Many of the coaches in our younger divisions are players who've come up through the ranks and are still playing in the junior division. We are grateful that they're willing to take the time and energy to give something back to the league and the next generation of players.

Our spring league is just beginning - the clinic, Squirts, Pee Wees and Bantams are under way, and the juniors and seniors start May 22. Our ninth winter season will start later this year.
