The deadline for reserving a place at the Thursday, May 19, testimonial dinner at the Floral Terrace (handicap accessible) for former mayor Ann Corbett is May 15, according to the dinner committee.

Tickets for a full continental hot and cold buffet and cocktail hour and five-course dinner with open bar all evening are $45 per person. Checks payable to the Ann Corbett Testimonial Dinner may be sent to Bernadette Verdu at 116 Hawthorne Avenue Floral Park, NY 11001.

The cocktail hour begins at 7 p.m. and the dinner and program begins at 8 p.m. Additional groups and organizations wishing to make a presentation may contact former mayor Tom Hayden, who is serving in his traditional role as master of ceremonies, at 437-1413.

The dinner is an expression of thanks to Corbett for her years of community service. She was a trustee for 12 years and served four additional years as mayor. Corbett is the first woman mayor in Floral Park's history. She is observing the tradition that mayors in Floral Park only serve a total of four years. There have only been two exceptions to this tradition since Floral Park's founding almost 100 years ago.
