Interment Calverton National Cemetery. Robert E. Philpott, 79, died suddenly in Wilmington, NC, formerly of Stewart Manor. He was a WWII veteran who served with the Fifth Army in Italy and was a longtime employee and retiree of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City. Husband of the late Anne. Father of Douglas E. of Marlborough, MA. Father-in-law of Eleanore. Grandfather of Christopher and Matthew. Father of David A. of Minneapolis, MN. Brother of Lillian Taylor of Pittsford, NY, and Richard of Fairport, NY. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Floral Park. A memorial service was held at the funeral home on Aug. 14. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
