  • News: Alfano Hits Grand Slam With School Aid Boost

    Assemblyman Tom Alfano announced that an agreement was made over the final portion of the state budget that would pump millions of dollars in extra state aid to local schools, including those in the Floral Park and Sewanhaka districts. The results, said Alfano, equaled a grand slam in funding. For months, Alfano has held firm in not signing off on a budget package that he called "the wrong choice for local schools." In fact, Alfano blasted the initial executive plan and said he wold repeat what he did the previous year and override any veto that would shortchange schools in his district. FULL STORY

  • News: Vanderbilt Avenue Building Collapse Traps Construction Workers

    On Friday morning, Aug. 6, at 11:08 a.m. the Floral Park Fire Department was alerted for a general alarm response to a building collapse at 22 Vanderbilt Avenue. Nassau County Firecom dispatchers alerted the first responding units that this collapse was confirmed through the Floral Park Police Department and that construction workers were trapped under the rubble.
