Overdue Memorial for Deceased Servicemen
Eleven servicemen who died 60 years ago when their B-24 Liberator Bomber crashed into a Kansas hillside will finally be remembered during a special memorial service scheduled to take place Saturday, Oct. 4 in a gazebo at City Park in Osborne, Kansas. Lt. Frank Fischer, formerly of Floral Park, was among those 11 men who never made it to their destination, an airfield in Topeka, Kansas, on Sept. 22, 1943.

Veterans To Speak at Historical Society's October 5 Meeting
In honor of Veterans Day, the Floral Park Historical Society has invited three veterans from American Legion Post 334 to speak at its Sunday, Oct. 5 meeting about their military experiences. The veterans in attendance will be Jim Reid, who served in the Army, Bill Reno, who is a Navy veteran and Jim Malone, an Army veteran. The moderator of the discussion will be Peter Fleig, vice president of the Historical Society and First Vice Commander of American Legion Post 334.
