William R. (Bill) Wilson, 86, of Queensbury, died on Dec. 23, 2002 after a three and a half year convalescence at Westmount Health Facility. Bill was born May 31, 1916 in Norwalk, CT, the son of the late William T. and Marion (Eddy) Wilson. He married Dorothy A. Berbrich of Mineola in 1947. He resided in Brooklyn where he was a captain in the Auxiliary Police Dept. and worked for J. Lee Smith as a color chemist.
He then lived in Floral Park where he was actively involved as a baseball umpire and football referee. He was also a rifle instructor for the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point. Bill was an usher and president of the Holy Name Association at Our Lady of Victory Church.
He was relocated to Glens Falls in 1964 by his employer Hercules, Inc., where he worked in the color department in technical sales until his retirement. Bill stayed active as an area umpire and high school football referee and started an association for umpires for women's softball. He was head usher for many years at Our Lady of Annunciation in Queensbury, an officer for the Ancient Order of the Hibernians and past president of the Hudson Falls Fish and Game Club.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Dorothy and one sister Marjorie (Wilson) Donahue. Survivors include two sons, William J. Wilson (Vicki) of Queensbury, Richard T. Wilson (Nancy) of Queensbury; and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted on Jan. 6 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church in Queensbury. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, S. Glens Falls. Arrangements were made by the Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, Queensbury. Donations may be made in Bill's memory to Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Aviation Rd., Queensbury.
Howard C. Heinz, 82, died on Jan. 1, 2003. Husband of the late Catherine. Father of Sheila Tuohy, Brian and Patrick. Grandfather of Michael, Kathleen, Brian, Moira, Jamie and Liam. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Floral Park. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Victory RC Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.
