Cracking Down on Drunk Drivers
The Senate will act later this month on legislation that would crack down on drunk drivers by reducing the state's legal limit for blood alcohol to be charged with DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) to .08, according to local Senator Kemp Hannon (R-6th SD). Stronger criminal penalties against repeat drunk drivers and drivers with very high blood alcohol levels are also expected to be put in place.

Schumer Addresses Canada Geese Problem
At a recent conference at Eisenhower Park, US Senator Charles Schumer announced that a program called Geesepeace is on its way to Long Island to help alleviate the Canada geese overpopulation problem that threatens the health of local residents and the environment. Nassau County is now in the process of rolling out the program county-wide.
