Robert F. Edwards, 91, a longtime resident of Floral Park, died on Aug. 27, 2002. He was born in Brooklyn on Nov. 24, 1910. He worked for Brooklyn Union Gas Co. for over 40 years starting in the 1930s. During WWII, he served in Europe in the 9th Division 47th Infantry. He was wounded in the battle for the Huertgen Forest Campaign on Nov. 21, 1944. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Robert was an usher at Our Lady of Victory Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and VFW. Husband of the late Rosemary Horan. Father of Robert and daughter-in-law Lee. Brother of John and Josephine. Grandfather of Michael and Brian. Great-grandfather of Sean and Ryan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Floral Park. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Victory RC Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.
