House Fire Kills Floral Park Couple
A serious house fire on Ash Street, the sixth blaze in three months in Floral Park, took the lives of what neighbors are describing as an "unassuming couple." Mrs. Maureen Minerly, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene while her husband, Charles, 57, was later pronounced dead at Winthrop-University Hospital after rescue workers on the scene found him in a hallway and tried to revive him.

St. Hedwig Parish Celebrates Centennial
Back in 1901, farmers who immigrated from Poland and eventually settled in Floral Park, New Hyde Park and other surrounding areas decided to petition Bishop McDonell of the Brooklyn Diocese so they could build a church where they and their families could carry on their Polish traditions while still being able to worship in their native tongue.
