During the Nov. 20 village board meeting, Mayor Ann Corbett reported that she recently attended the Council of Cultural Affairs Art Show. The Council is responsible for planning many programs in Floral Park, including 10 musical concerts in the summer. Mayor Corbett said the Council is currently looking for a piano. Anyone interested in donating one may contact Alexa Ventimiglia, the Council's current chairperson.
Mayor Corbett reminds residents that the next village board meeting will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. at Village Hall.
Mayor Corbett recently taped the first two segments of the Mayor's Round Table (formally known as the Mayor's Message) at the Four Village Studio. The mayor said she had three interesting guests, including Village Justice Doug Hayden, Acting Village Justice Perry Criscitelli and Village Historian Walter Gosden. The segments aired this week.
Mayor Corbett reports that the pool building construction has started. A 20-year, $3,200,000 serial bond will pay for the cost of the building. The village has an excellent A2 rating, according to Mayor Corbett, and the interest rate on the bond will be 4.25 percent for the first 10 years and then subsequently increments of 4.5 percent, 4.75 percent and 5 percent for the last 10 years. The village has been fully insured and the bond is 100 percent guaranteed as if Floral Park had a AAA status.
The next publication of the Village Items is due out shortly and Mayor Corbett said she expects it will be an exceptional issue. Teresa Emmel is the editor of the paper.
The Floral Park Junior Women's Club will hold their annual tree lighting Friday, Dec. 7 at Memorial Park.
