Thousands Feared Dead in Wake of Terrorist Attacks
President Bush Calls It War --
Wednesday, Sept. 12 - A deep sense of shock and sadness pervaded the communities of Nassau County today in the wake of yesterday's terrorist strikes on America, which are being described by President Bush as "the most devastating terrorist attacks in the nation's history," and "an act of war."
I've always considered September a time to say goodbye to the carefree days of summer and, like everyone else, re-establish a more structured routine. Young people have returned to school with feelings of excitement, some have entered kindergarten while others have started high school or college. Our community service, civic and faith-related groups have begun their meeting and event schedules.
