Village of Floral Park Obtains Noise Monitor
In the continuous effort to combat noise pollution brought on by an influx of aircraft coming in and out of nearby Kennedy and LaGuardia airports, Floral Park, through U.S. Senator Charles Schumer's efforts, will obtain a noise monitor, enabling the village to document concrete evidence to back up ongoing residential complaints.
Board Gets Residential Feedback Regarding Proposed Pool Project
The Floral Park Village Board held an informational meeting Wednesday night in an attempt to satisfy residential concerns regarding the proposed recreation/pool building, located on Stewart Street in the village. Village trustees heard mixed reviews concerning the project, with some residents concerned about the lack of a public referendum. The project, which has been in the works for approximately six years, will create a two-story, year-round building to replace the existing, deteriorating pool building and provide a place where both senior citizens and young people can recreate.

Sewanhaka Power Squadron of the United States Power Squadron is offering a safe boating class at the following locations: Oceanside High School, Skillman Avenue in Oceanside on Monday, Oct. 1; Sewanhaka High School, 500 Tulip Avenue in Floral Park on Thursday, Oct. 4; New Hyde Park High School, 500 Leonard Blvd. in New Hyde Park on Thursday, Oct. 4 and Thursday, Nov. 8.; Garden City High School, Merillon Avenue in Garden City on Wednesday, Oct. 10; and Herricks Community Center, Shelter Rock Road in Herricks on Monday, Oct. 15.
