Bellerose Home Improvement Operator Arrested
According to Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon, criminal charges have been filed against 24 home improvement operators, including Marco Pinheiro of Bellerose. Following complaints from various homeowners, Dillon said the charges are the results of investigations conducted during the last six months.

Blood Donor Bill Emmel Named "Citizen of the Month"
Floral Park resident Bill Emmel, lifelong blood donor and community advocate for blood donations, was named July's "Citizen of the Month" in the Fourth Congressional District. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy honored Emmel's dedication to recruit eligible donors to give blood with a speech on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. She also awarded Emmel with a Congressional Proclamation of Distinction.

Resident Sings Anthem at State Championship
Kate Hanson of Floral Park sang the National Anthem just prior to the start of the 11-12-year-old New York State Little League Championship tournament, held in Mineola this past Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The state championship is one of the steps teams must take before getting to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
