The Floral Park Conservation Society is continuing to make progress in developing a wild flower meadow at Centennial Gardens in the area bordered by Floral Parkway and Raff Avenue. Through the hands-on efforts of many community members, the formerly overgrown area has now been seeded and the plantings have begun to take shape.

On Saturday mornings in July beginning at 8:30am the group requests that all interested community members, both students and adults, volunteer time to help maintain the wild flower meadow and other ongoing projects. Jim Newman is organizing this worthwhile project and can be contacted at 516-354-0463 for further information.

The next regular meeting of the Floral Park Conservation Society will take place on the second Wednesday of the month, July 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the second floor meeting room of the Village Hall. The meeting will include a discussion of the efforts to obtain a grant to construct a scenic overlook bridge to link the two center pathways between Floral Parkway and Carnation Avenue, as well as plans to sponsor a "Taste of Floral Park" food tasting fund raising event in October, among many other interesting developments.
