I was reading the Floral Park Village items and when I came to the article about the recreation center, it was very interesting to read about all that has been done for the tennis, basketball and hockey programs at the park. However, it occurred to me that nothing has ever been done for the volleyball program. For a program that brings in over $5,000 in the summer season, the participants still have to play on uneven and cracked courts with nets that are sagging and have no resiliency. In addition, there has not been a new volleyball purchased since I, myself, have been playing, which has been over 15 years. I wonder why, in a town that projects itself as being for the entire community, the residents who are interested in the volleyball program are overlooked.

I do commend the Floral Park Recreation Staff and everyone else who has been involved in making the recreation center so enjoyable for the residents, but now is the time to do something for volleyball. We have waited a long time and very patiently, and I think our patience should be rewarded.
