County Executive Vetoes Legislature's Budget
A recent turn of events, which saw the Nassau County Legislature pass a 2001 budget it felt was a step on the road to fiscal stability only to have Nassau County Executive Thomas Gulotta veto it, has left the county's financial status in limbo. The legislative majority is now calling for an override of Gulotta's veto.

Republicans Take Back Town Hall
The difference a year can make was apparent on Tuesday night at Republican Headquarters as people anxiously awaited election results. In a hotly contested battle for control of the Town of Hempstead, Republicans won five out of the six newly created councilmanic district seats. Among those winning was Garden City resident Joseph Kearney who will represent the 2nd Councilmanic District.
