Well after the last day of school and after graduation commencement ceremonies have taken place, the all-star high school football players from Long Island will face off again. This time it will be against their counterparts from New York City schools in a game played to fight a deadly disease.

Elmont Woman Killed at LIRR Covert Avenue Grade Crossing
The New Hyde Park firefighters were jolted out of their quiet Sunday summer afternoon, at about 4:30 p.m., when the call came in that a car had been hit on the Long Island Rail Road tracks in the vicinity of Covert Avenue in New Hyde Park killing its only occupant Evelyn Haneman, 45, of Elmont, who was driving a 1987 red Nissan.
